Global Semiconductor Industry updates

1. SK hynix has completed the development of its 321-layer 2Tb QLC NAND flash product and officially started mass production.

2. Belgium’s imec and Ghent University announced the successful epitaxial growth of a 120-layer Si/SiGe structure on a 300mm silicon wafer, marking a major breakthrough for advancing 3D DRAM.

3. Korean semiconductor company ChipScale recently announced that it began the first mass production of 650V GaN (Gallium Nitride) power semiconductors in Korea in 2023.

4. Apple has, for the first time this year, achieved localized production of the entire iPhone 17 series in India, with all four models (including the Pro versions) rolling off production lines at Indian factories.

5. Samsung Electro-Mechanics has started supplying FC-BGA for Amazon’s A1 “Trainium” semiconductor, and plans to supply FC-BGA to Apple, Google, and Meta starting next year.

6. Intel has secured an investment of USD 8.9 billion.
