Global Semiconductor Industry updates

1. Amkor Technology announced plans to build a new, state-of-the-art outsourced advanced semiconductor packaging and testing campus in Arizona, with a significant expansion of its investment scale.

2. imec recently announced that AIXTRON, GlobalFoundries, KLA Corporation, Synopsys, and Veeco have become the first partners in its 300mm GaN (gallium nitride) open innovation program for both low-voltage and high-voltage power electronics applications.

3. According to the latest report released by Moody’s, Asia currently holds more than 75% of the world’s semiconductor manufacturing capacity, covering logic chips, memory chips, DAO chips, and the supply chain of critical materials.

4. According to Korean media, Samsung has started mass production of its 2nm processor, the Exynos 2600, with the first batch of production wafers already in process.

5. Silicon carbide chip company Wolfspeed announced that it has successfully completed its financial restructuring process and has exited bankruptcy protection.

6. Texas Instruments will lay off nearly 400 employees and plans to close its remaining 150mm semiconductor wafer fabrication plant in North Texas.


China Semiconductor Industry updates

1. Lenovo has acquired high-end storage company Infinidat, with the transaction expected to close by the end of 2025.

2. Yunhan Chip City (Shanghai) Internet Technology Co., Ltd. was successfully listed on the ChiNext board of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, with a total market value of RMB 7.606 billion.
